Overview
This guide will walk you through the process of easily navigating the HERO app to find and apply for shifts. Whether you’re searching for your next opportunity or refining your search preferences, this guide will show you how to efficiently locate available shifts, apply, and review necessary community details.
Finding and applying for shifts
To begin your search, tap on the Search tab.
At the top of the screen, you will find:
- Search Bar: Type in specific queries to find shifts.
- Funnel Icon: Tap to open the Shift List Filter for more search options.
- Chat-box Icon: Located in the top right corner, this allows you to send a message to the community or KARE.
Below, under the List tab, you will see the available shifts that you can apply for.
Shift List Filter
The Shift List Filter, located next to the search bar, allows you to refine your search based on:
- License Type
- Community Type
- Shifts
- Date & Time
You can also tap Change Cities at the bottom to expand your search to other markets.
In the Shift section, you have the option to set a Minimum Hourly Rate to filter shifts that match your pay preference.
Map View
The Map View tab enables you to view available shifts within the selected market area. The total number of shifts per community will be shown.
You can tap the “Search This Area” button at the bottom of the map to filter shifts based on the selected area.
Shift Card Information
Each shift card contains detailed information like:

- Community Logo and Name
- Completed Documents Icon (top right corner)
- License Needed
- Shift Status (e.g., “Not Ready”)
- Estimated Earnings per Shift
- Community Address
- Shift Date & Time
- Shift Supervisor
- Task Details / About Community
- Apply Now button
Other Shift Detail Information

About Community: This section provides important community details, including:
- Welcome Message
- Requested Attire
- Parking & Check-in Process
- Map View of the Location
- Button to Open Location in Maps for easy navigation (scroll down)
This section ensures you have all the necessary information before arriving at your shift.
Applying For A Shift
Once you have reviewed the shift details, you can tap the Apply Now button to apply for the shift. After applying, your application will appear in My Shifts with an Applied status. You will then wait for the community to confirm your shift.
Viewing Community Documents
If this is your first time working for a particular community, you can view and acknowledge the community’s documents by clicking the document icon in the top right corner of your application. You can always return to this section whenever you need it.
